May 5th Luncheon Honoring Senator Josh Newman

April 26, 2017

**You Are Cordially Invited!**

A Luncheon in honor of

The Honorable Josh Newman

Senator Representing California’s 29th Senate District

The Democratic Foundation of Orange County could not be more proud to honor fellow member and newly elected Senator Josh Newman on May 5th, 2017. As Senator, Josh represents the 29th Senate District, which includes cities in North Orange County, along with portions of Los Angeles, and San Bernardino Counties.

Josh led one of the most exciting Senate races in 2016. All eyes across the state were on the 29th district as the final votes in the Senate race were tallied. Josh earned his place in the Senate by a winning margin of over 3,000 votes against his Republican opponent. His success has given Democrats a significant edge by securing the essential two-thirds majority in the State Senate.

A veteran himself, Josh served as an officer in the United States Army with active duty assignments in South Korea after completing his education at Yale. He then went on to be the Founder and Executive Director of “ArmedForce2Workforce,” a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation founded in 2012 to assist young veterans in the Orange County/Greater Los Angeles area in developing their careers after the military. He now serves as chair of the Veterans Affairs committee in the State Senate. As chair, Josh plays an important role in developing more employment opportunities for Veterans in our state, as well as overseeing currently existing programs that assist Veterans.

Josh calls the city of Fullerton home along with his wife Darcy Lewis (also a Foundation Member), and their young daughter and three rescue Chihuahuas. In his spare time he volunteers for Habitat for Humanity and the Special Olympics.

We now have the honor of welcoming Josh as one of the elected leaders in Orange County. Join us as we hear from Josh about his experiences in the Senate and the meaningful work that is still to be done. Details for the event can be found below.
