Foundation Annual Dinner Celebration

November 29, 2017
Dear Members of the Democratic Foundation of Orange County and Friends of the Foundation,

On 11/05/17 the Foundation held its Annual Dinner to reunite with old friends, make new friends, elect a new Board of Directors and set of Officers, and honor three outstanding progressive heroes.

Congressman Ted Lieu was honored with the Wylie A. Aitken Award for Excellence in Leadership.  Ted is a brilliant Member of Congress, a Colonel in the Air Force Reserves, a great lawyer, and a steady hand in the House Judiciary Committee.  The Judiciary Committee is the Committee of Jurisdiction on the issue of Impeachment.  Ted, we will all work hard to get you a Democratic House so that you’ll be allowed to conduct an impeachment investigation/impeachment hearings, that will be fair to The People.  You are a voice not only for progressives, but for patriots everywhere.  We thank you, and we honor you.

Michael Keegan, President of People for the American Way was honored with the Howard Adler Award for Excellence in the Art and Science of Politics.  Boy, did Michael deserve this honor!  “PFAW” was created by two great progressives, Producer Norman Lear and the late Congresswoman Barbara Jordan.  They formed it, and for many years Michael has run it – and run it with the gusto of man of compassion, toughness,  and keen strategy.  Michael does for the Nation what the Foundation does for Orange County.  Michael, thank you.

Sandra Fluke was honored with the Richard J. O’Neill Award for Excellence in Service.  Sandra first came to the Nation’s attention when she pushed for women’s health rights; and, the Republican House didn’t want to hear from her.  To say the least, that backfired.  Sandra’s star flew to the top, where she used that star for the good of the Nation.  It’s not overstating the matter to say that Sandra was instrumental in President Barack Obama re-election in 2012.  Now Sandra works tirelessly to organize people for progressive causes – to give voice to the voiceless.  Sandra fills our souls with pride, pride for her, and pride for what she does.  Thank you Sandra, thank you very much.

We all had a good time; and, we all honored three great American progressives/patriots.  It was an honor to honor each of them.

          Thank you.

Sincerely,
Dan Jacobson
